News Story
“We can’t wait to hear the full orchestra and chorus in the concert hall, but the artistic path taken by the SCO is a shining positive for now.”
Today we announce four further online concerts, extending our Spring Digital Season to the end of May 2021.
Returning to full orchestral performances, we are delighted to welcome back our Conductor Emeritus Joseph Swensen, who will take to the podium for two concerts, beginning with an evening of Romantic music by Clara and Robert Schumann on Thursday 22 April with SCO leader Stephanie Gonley.
On Thursday 29 April, Joseph is joined by the hugely talented saxophonist Jess Gillam, who will be making her SCO debut performing Gavin Bryars' The Green Ray in a concert which also features Beethoven’s epic First Symphony.
With a spotlight on Scottish talent, we are joined by the brilliant pianist Steven Osborne who will take centre stage for Ravel Piano Concerto in G conducted by Douglas Boyd on Thursday 13 May.
On Thursday 20 May, joining us are world-renowned Edinburgh-born percussionist Colin Currie and conductor and composer Sir James MacMillan for the Scottish Premiere of Rautavaara’s mystical percussion concerto Incantations and MacMillan’s poignant memorial lament Ein Lämplein verlosch.
Where to Watch
Filmed at Perth Concert Hall, the concerts will be available to watch, free of charge, every Thursday at 7:30pm via our YouTube channel and Facebook page and on catch-up for 30 days.
