Craigmillar Residency Shortlisted for Three Awards

News Story

We're absolutely thrilled to announce that our five year Craigmillar Residency has been nominated for not one, not two... but three awards (so far).

The residency that concluded with our 'Tapestry' event at Queen's Hall at the beginning of the year was a programme of creative projects and performances for residents of all ages in Greater Craigmillar, Edinburgh.

Our Craigmillar residency has been recognised by the Scottish Regerenation Forum, Scottish Public Service Awards and Creative Edinburgh. Keep a look out for updates on our social media feeds - we are delighted to be nominated alongside some brilliant community organisations.

Laura Baxter, SCO Learning & Participation Director, said: "We are absolutely delighted to see the Craigmillar residency recognised through these nominations. Over five years, the residency has shown what can happen when an orchestra works alongside a community for the long term, building relationships, responding to local ideas and creating opportunities together. The nominations are a real testament to the ambition, creativity and commitment of the people and partners across Craigmillar who have made this work what it is".

The residency included an annual schools’ programme for nursery, primary and secondary school pupils, as well as year-round creative projects for all members of the community. These included ReConnect, Craigmillar Voices, our flourishing community singing project, and Seen and Heard, an arts and music programme led by Associate Composer Jay Capperauld.

You can learn more about our time in Craigmillar through 'The Residency' our new legacy book made in collaboration with Boom Saloon. The short book will be available to collect at upcoming concerts free of charge.
