SCO Vibe at Castlebrae High School

News Story
The SCO’s Vibe programme is a creative music-making project open to young singers and instrumentalists. In Vibe, everyone works together to create new music which combines the playing styles and musical influences of everyone in the group. With the support of our committed team of professional musicians, young people develop their abilities to compose, improvise and perform.
We deliver Vibe projects in schools and communities across Scotland and with young musicians of all backgrounds and abilities. As part of our SCO in Craigmillar community residency, we are currently working with students and teachers at Castlebrae Community High School where we will deliver two Vibe programmes per academic year. Our latest programme, in June 2022, saw our regular Vibe team, led by Paul Griffiths, work with students to create a range of new pieces which were then performed to students from other year groups at the end of a creative and energetic three days.
The Vibe team will be back at Castlebrae Community High School in Autumn 2022 – and students and teachers are looking forward to it already! As one classroom teacher noted: “I don’t know who is enjoying this more – me or the students!”
Vibe creates an opportunity for students from different years to meet and create something together that they can feel proud of, in the process enhancing the cultural potential in the school community.
