Young Start delivered by the National Lottery Community Fund

From 2025 to 2027, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra will take its VIBE programme to the Scottish Borders, working with local partners in the region.

VIBE, the SCO’s unique fusion orchestra programme, running in various forms and locations since 2013, is an informal music-making opportunity for young people that takes place during school holiday periods. In VIBE, everyone works together to create new music, which combines the playing styles and musical influences of everyone in the group.

The VIBE ethos is to create a socially and musically inclusive environment based on trust, openness and mutual respect. The free and open atmosphere cultivated encourages young people to reach out of their comfort zones and find new ways of interacting musically as well as socially.
