From 2025 to 2027/28, we are taking our VIBE programme to the Scottish Borders, working with local partners in the region. VIBE, led by composer and workshop leader Paul Griffiths with a team of professional musicians from SCO, is a fun and creative music-making opportunity for young people with a performance opportunity at Borders Music Festival.

There are no auditions and we don't use sheet music. In VIBE, everyone works together to create new music which combines the playing styles and music tastes of everyone in the group – the emphasis is on trying out new ideas, building confidence and enjoying making music together.

We are currently delivering VIBE in partnership with Scottish Borders Council and Borders Music Festival, with thanks to the Young Start programme funded by the National Lottery.

On 7 September 2025, our VIBE in the Borders group came together to perform at the Melrose Corn Exchange as part of the Melrose Music Festival for the culmination of their workshops. See how the fantastic day went down in our image gallery below.
