Do you like to move to music and express yourself? Join Ana Almeida as she explores Anna Clyne's Sound and Fury.

Moving Music is ideal for children in Primary 4 - 6 (ages 7 -10) to learn about music through movement. On this page you will find five short Moving Music films (5-10 minutes each), background videos and downloadable guidance notes. Watch the films and follow Ana's movements, then have a look at the notes for more activities. Enjoy!

4. Musical Characters

• Listen to three short musical examples from Sound and Fury and imagine a character for each of them
• Pick your favourite character for a movement game

5. Stormy Wind

• Conduct the last section of Sound and Fury
• Learn the musical terms for speeding up (accelerando) and becoming gradually louder (crescendo)
• Become a tree, swaying in the wind

Anna Clyne - SCO Associate Composer

Anna Clyne is an English composer, born in 1980, who studied composition at the University of Edinburgh and Manhattan School of Music. Since then, Anna has won many awards, including a Grammy nomination, and has been invited to work with world-famous orchestras such as the Chicago Symphony, Baltimore Symphony and now the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.

Sound and Fury

This is a new work composed by Anna Clyne in November 2019 especially for the SCO. It is inspired by Haydn’s Symphony No 60 Il Distrato and Shakespeare’s ‘Tomorrow and tomorrow, and tomorrow’ soliloquy from Macbeth. Sound and Fury is a one-movement piece divided into six sections.
