Principal Conductor Maxim Emelyanychev and internationally acclaimed violinist Vilde Frang will join the SCO this May, visiting Amsterdam, Gdańsk and Zürich.
In Amsterdam and Gdańsk, we open with SCO Associate Composer, Jay Capperauld’s The Origin of Colour, a striking new chamber work inspired by Italo Calvino's short story 'Without Colours', which tells a surrealist tale of the creation of colour on Earth.
Suitably colourful and infamous for its lyrical beauty and dramatic intensity, Beethoven’s radiant Violin Concerto follows with Vilde Frang taking centre stage across all three locations.
Post interval, Maxim Emelyanychev conducts Haydn’s triumphant Symphony No. 104 in Gdańsk and Zürich, a masterpiece brimming with wit and grandeur - a fitting conclusion to a programme filled with vibrancy, passion, and spirit.
