SCO soloists at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe
10 Jul 2023
News Story
We're delighted to announce that three SCO players - Principal Flute André Cebrián, Principal Clarinet Maximiliano Martín and Sub-Principal Cello Su-a Lee - are giving solo recitals as part of this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
On 15 August, Maximiliano Martín offers a programme ranging from the Gallic charm of Poulenc to the beautiful romanticism of late Brahms, and the impressionistic colours of Debussy. To round it off there are some spectacular virtuoso showpieces from French composers Widor and Gaubert.
On 17 August, André Cebrián's eclectic programme explores music with Gypsy roots, including works by Haydn, Bartók, Sarasate, Doppler, Falla, Liszt, and Rimsky-Korsakov. Enjoy an afternoon of heartrending nostalgic melodies and glittering dances.
Finally, on 19 August, Su-a Lee will perform with one of her duo partners, Hamish Napier, one of Scotland’s busiest and multi-faceted folk musicians. Their programme includes original compositions inspired by the surroundings of his native Strathspey, as well as old traditional favourites and some classic Bach.
All three concerts take place at 3pm, at Northesk Parish Church in Musselburgh.
