The Scottish Chamber Orchestra is delighted to welcome the next phase in the creation of the Dunard Centre, Edinburgh’s landmark venue that will become a permanent home for the SCO in the heart of Edinburgh.

This purpose-built concert hall, designed by David Chipperfield Architects with Reiach and Hall, will be the first in the UK to feature acoustics by the globally renowned Nagata Acoustics. Their expertise, trusted by the world’s leading orchestras and venues, will ensure an exceptional auditory experience for performers and audiences alike. For the SCO, this marks a transformational moment: a bespoke acoustic environment that will elevate our artistic possibilities and deepen our connection with audiences.

The Dunard Centre will be a space where music flourishes, not only through our performances, but through education, collaboration, and community engagement. It will allow us to expand our reach, innovate our programming, and offer new pathways for participation across all ages and backgrounds.

We are deeply grateful to IMPACT Scotland and all partners whose vision and commitment have brought this project to life. The signing of the construction contract with Balfour Beatty is a major milestone, and we look forward to contributing to the Dunard Centre’s legacy as a world-class venue for music.
