Serenade for Strings
Stephanie Gonley Director / Violin
A programme to show off the versatility of the string orchestra, in music from Mozart to Webern.
Directed by SCO Leader Stephanie Gonley, we open with Elgar paying tribute both to the Baroque era and Welsh song, before a lyrical early work by Webern and a sprightly Divertimento by the teenage Mozart.
Richly scored, featuring one of his best-loved waltzes and an impossibly catchy Russian dance to round things off, Tchaikovsky's Serenade is one of the jewels of the string orchestra repertoire.
Kindly supported by Eriadne & George Mackintosh and Claire & Anthony Tait.
As part of the 150th anniversary of the consecration of Inverness Cathedral.
