Frank Docherty

Councillor - Glasgow City Council

DOCHERTY FrankCouncillor Frank Docherty is a senior elected member of Glasgow City Council. He was first elected to represent the Dennistoun Ward in 2003 and following the introduction of multi-member wards in 2007, he has been a Councillor for the East Centre Ward, which takes in the Dennistoun area.

Councillor Docherty has held a number of positions within Glasgow City Council. He is convenor of the Council’s Public Petitions and General Purposes, vice-convenor of the Licensing Board and is a member of the Children and Families Policy Development Committee. Councillor Docherty also chairs the East Centre and Calton Local Community Planning Partnership Board.

Council Docherty is a director of the Glasgow Jazz Festival, a board member of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and is a former director of the Citizens Theatre. He spearheaded a campaign by John Wheatley College and the Association of Community Colleges which successfully lobbied the Scottish Government to grant charitable status to Scotland’s colleges.
He has a professional background in the retail industry and lives with his partner and their two children in Dennistoun.
