Fiona Alexander grew up in Ilkley in Yorkshire and started playing the violin at the age of six, going on to study with Richard Deakin at the Royal Northern College of Music and Maurice Hasson at the Royal Academy of Music.

After spending two and a half years with the Ulster Orchestra, Fiona joined the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in 1993.

When she is not performing with the Orchestra, she is spending time with her two sons.
