Lichfield Festival with Joseph Swensen

Lichfield 2004

The orchestra gave two performances over this weekend at the Lichfield Festival. In the first concert, pianists Stephen Osborne and Paul Lewis joined the SCO at Lichfield Cathedral to perform Mozart's Concerto in E flat for 2 Pianos. This was followed by Mozart's Bassoon Concerto with soloist Ursula Leveaux, with Dvorák's Czech Suite and Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings making up the rest of the programme under conductor Joseph Swensen.

The Rascher Quartet and SCO gave the UK premiere of Dean's Water Music for Saxophone Quartet and Chamber Orchestra in the SCO's second concert at the Lichfield Music Festival. Conductor Joseph Swensen led the orchestra in a programme that included Beethoven's Overture, Coriolan, two scenes from Sibelius' Kuolema - Scene with Cranes and Valse Triste - and Beethoven's Symphony No 7.
