SCO Youth Academy - Video Audition

Places for SCO Youth Academy will be allocated on submission of a successful video audition. However, first of all you must apply for the course online at We will then email you the audition excerpts from the repertoire within two weeks of receiving your application. You can then upload your audition video, or your parent/carer can do this for you.

We need you to submit a video of yourself performing:

  • a piece or excerpt of your own choice (for example an exposition of a concerto) of no longer than three minutes in length, and
  • audition excerpts from the repertoire Finlandia and Sheherazade I and III, which will be emailed out to you

The audition excerpts vary by instrument, so please read this document very carefully to ensure you have rehearsed correctly for your instrument.

Please submit your recording online via YouTube following the instructions on the video below.

Submission deadline

All audition videos must be submitted by Friday 4 September 2020 (midnight). You are welcome to submit your video well in advance of this deadline. After the deadline closes, videos will be collated into a private YouTube playlist and passed on to the audition panel. We will email you on or before Friday 18 September to confirm whether we can offer you a place.

If you have any questions, have difficulties accessing instruments, or want to discuss any other issues with preparation due to lockdown restrictions, please contact Susan White

We wish you the best of luck in your audition, and we look forward to hearing your performances.
