IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ST MARY'S MUSIC SCHOOL
CALLING ALL AMBITIOUS YOUNG ORCHESTRAL MUSICIANS!
Would you like to perform with musicians from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, make new friends and develop your musicianship?
Sundays 1-29 November 2020, 2pm-5pm
St Thomas of Aquin's High School, Edinburgh
SCO Youth Academy is a new youth orchestra for school-aged musicians, delivered in partnership with St Mary’s Music School. The Academy offers a great opportunity for aspiring young musicians to work with expert SCO players over a series of five Sunday afternoons in the centre of Edinburgh. Conducted by Gordon Bragg and tutored by SCO musicians, the SCO Youth Academy is open to school-aged orchestral musicians who have reached at least Grade 6 for strings and percussion (including timpani) and Grade 7 for winds and brass. Places will be allocated on submission of a successful video audition. Repertoire for this course is Sibelius' Finlandia and Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade movements I and III.
Please note there is no audition/application fee. The course fee of £90 per participant is only applicable after places are confirmed. We do not, however, want cost to be a barrier and can provide bursaries for up to 100% fees and travel expenses. For enquiries regarding bursaries and support for travel and access, please contact Susan White at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The application closing date is on Friday 28 August 2020.
