Celebrate with a (musical) wee dram!
We've found something really special in the SCO cellars... a filmed recording of Whisky Mouth by SCO Associate Composer Jay Capperauld. Watch below.
Composed by our Associate Composer, the Ayrshire-born Jay Capperauld, Whisky Mouth imagines a number of Scottish reels - The Ale is Dear, Sleep Soond in da Mornin', Money Musk, Loch Leven Castle and Jenny Dang the Weaver - engaged in conversation that is (as Jay puts it) "sometimes impassioned, occasionally with sincerity, often humorously and always lightheartedly". We've been playing it on repeat in the office and suspect you will too: it's a surefire crowdpleaser!
To date, Whisky Mouth has only been performed as an encore to SCO concerts abroad, making it something of an cultural ambassador for Scotland and our nation's heritage. This performance, filmed in Leith Theatre, is effectively its homecoming, so we hope you'll join us in a reel or a wee dram to celebrate its return home.
