BBC Proms 2017: Ticciati and Tetzlaff
Our BBC Proms 2017 performance and player interviews, recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall in London, are available on BBC iPlayer Radio until 12 September.
Fresh from his recent performance in our 2016/17 Concert Season, German violinist Christian Tetzlaff reunited with the Orchestra and Principal Conductor Robin Ticciati to perform Berg's intensely moving Violin Concerto.
BRAHMS Tragic Overture
BERG Violin Concerto
THOMAS LARCHER Nocturne - Insomnia (UK premiere)
SCHUMANN Symphony No 3 in E flat major, 'Rhenish'
The BBC iPlayer Radio programme also features 'interval interviews' by Sub-Principal Bassoon Alison Green, Second Violin Gordon Bragg, Principal Horn Alec Frank Gemmill and Principal Conductor Robin Ticciati.
"A refreshing Austro-German programme of works that neatly dovetailed into each other, presented with energy by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Robin Ticciati." Bachtrack
"...And here the SCO sounded most at home, the fluidity of the ensemble almost like chamber music and all the delights of Berg’s intricate Debussyian orchestration uncovered." Bachtrack
"...Ticciati is about to start his ninth and final season with the SCO and the rapport is evident in the freedom, a cultivated kind of spontaneity, that he achieves with the group. The Times
"...a remarkable yet unshowy performance by the German violinist [Christian Tetzlaff], playing with the utmost delicacy, his silky legato offering the merest glimmer of Viennese glitter. The orchestra, especially the woodwind, flickered poignantly alongside. The Times
We look forward to welcoming Christian Tetzlaff back to our Concert Seasons in Glasgow, Edinburgh and St Andrews in March 2018 for Dvořák’s Violin Concerto.
