VIBE Online
SCO VIBE is a creative fusion orchestra project, bringing together young people of secondary school age from any musical background (e.g. classical, folk, rock, jazz) to work collaboratively to create, record and perform their own music. You can find out more about SCO VIBE here.
We know that creative music-making can have a really positive effect on our wellbeing and our ability to connect with other people, which is why - at this difficult time when we are unable to get together in person - we have taken VIBE into the virtual world! In July we ran a pilot project to try out our many musical ideas online and following the success of that, ran two online courses in October. Stay tuned for a full report coming soon...
VIBE Online is very much like our live courses, with Paul Griffiths leading young musicians through a series of improvisations, musical riffs and melodies before breaking out into smaller groups led by our team of tutors, where they develop and create new material collectively. VIBE Online is FREE and open to all skill levels - anyone who has played their instrument for a year or more is welcome. With VIBE online we meet using video conferencing software – ‘how to’ guides will be provided prior to the course and an SCO staff member will be present throughout to help with any issues.
Surprisingly the delay added an interesting extra layer to the music
I had no idea how VIBE ONLINE would work, but now I’ve done it, I think I’ve enjoyed it more! I feel free to try things out in my own space.
