Developed in partnership between the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and St Mary’s Music School, the SCO Academy offers free opportunities for aspiring school-aged musicians to work with members of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. There are no auditions and places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

SCO Academy Autumn 2021

Applications are now open for String and Percussion courses!

SCO Academy in Autumn 2021 offers courses for string and percussion musicians over a series of Sunday afternoons in November. The first three sessions take place online and the fourth will be in person at George Watson's College, Edinburgh.

We encourage applicants from all over Scotland and beyond to join our online sessions even if you can't commit to attending the live session on the fourth week.

String Academy
Sunday 7 November | Group 1, 2 – 3pm or Group 2, 3.30 - 4.30pm
Sunday 14 November | 2 – 3pm
Sunday 21 November | Group 1, 2 – 3pm or Group 2, 3.30 - 4.30pm
Sunday 28 November | 2 - 5pm (at George Watson's College, Edinburgh)

Percussion Academy
Sunday 7 November | 2 – 3pm
Sunday 14 November | 2 – 4.30pm
Sunday 21 November | 2 – 3pm
Sunday 28 November | 2 - 5pm (at George Watson's College, Edinburgh)

We are accepting applications from violin, viola, cello and double bass players who have reached at least Grade 6 standard, and from orchestral percussion players and drumkit players with some orchestral performing experience who have reached at least Grade 5 standard.
