VIBE in the Borders

in collaboration with Borders Music Festival

Love music and want to get creative? Join VIBE in the Borders, a FREE music-making project for 30 students in S1-3 who love singing or playing an instrument – no experience needed!

Whether you sing, rap, play an instrument, DJ, or have never played before, you’ll get to team up with guitarist Paul Griffiths and musicians from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra to create your own music in a fun, relaxed space. You’ll get the chance to experiment, improvise, and perform – all without needing to read music! No experience? No problem! Just bring your energy and ideas – build confidence, learn new skills, and most importantly, have a blast making music your way.

You will also get the opportunity to perform as part of Borders Music Festival 2026! Sessions take place on 2-4 May, 22-24 July and 18-20 September at Galashiels Academy. 10am-4pm.

Full day session timings are 10 to 4 on project days, 2-4.30pm on 18 September.

Workshop leaders include Guitarist Paul Griffiths and a team of musicians from SCO.

Kindly supported by the Hugo Burge Foundation, the Jasmine Foundation, the Pear Tree Fund for Music, and Young Start, delivered by the National Lottery Community Fund.
