Sigur Rós
2026 Orchestral Tour
Edinburgh Playhouse
SEC Armadillo, Glasgow
The SCO and sopranos and altos from the SCO Chorus will join Sigur Rós on the last leg of their epic world tour, where the band are collaborating with local orchestras, to bring their latest album ÁTTA to life alongside favourites from their extensive catalogue.
This stretch of the tour will begin in Edinburgh on 31 August and Glasgow on 2 September, where the SCO will be the accompanying orchestra.
The new shows will be the last chance for fans to see this unique performance from Sigur Rós in collaboration with conductor Robert Ames.
Sigur Rós
Initially a quartet, Kjartan Sveinsson’s departure in 2013 reduced Sigur Rós to a trio. When drummer Orri Páll Dýrason left in 2018, the band became a duo. In 2023, Sveinsson returned, restoring them to a serene-sounding trio for the making of Átta.
Although they were initially labelled a post-rock band, no scene or subgenre has ever truly contained them. Selling more than 10 million albums worldwide without a hit single or a Grammy, and singing mostly in Icelandic, a language spoken by fewer than 400,000 people, Sigur Rós have always followed a distinctly individual path.
