Dementia-Friendly Concert

Our popular dementia-friendly concerts take pride of place in our Summer Tour. These relaxed afternoon performances feature classical favourites and familiar tunes, introduced and performed by SCO musicians, along with tea and biscuits that can be enjoyed as part of the concert experience.
The concert series has been co-created with people living with a dementia, through our partnership with Alzheimer Scotland and the Scottish Dementia Working Group.
Teas, coffees and biscuits will be served from 1pm, concert starts at 2pm and finishes at 3pm.
To help create a relaxed environment:
- Wheelchair spaces and welcoming front of house staff will be on hand.
- Cabaret-style seating available with tables.
- SCO musicians will introduce the music you will hear and there will be programme notes available on each table.
- There will be brighter lighting levels in the auditorium.
- There is no need to keep quiet or sit still and you can come in and out of the auditorium during the performance.
- Quiet spaces will be available in the venue if you need to leave the concert while the performance is happening
- Coffee, tea and biscuits will be served to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all attendees.
Tickets: £6 and a carer goes free (limited capacity).

Playlist for Life
Representatives from 'Playlist for Life' will be there to talk through the brilliant work they do, helping people affected by a dementia to live well with the support of personal playlists.
Healing Arts Scotland

Healing Arts Scotland (HAS) is a nationwide event celebrating and advocating for improved physical, mental and social health through the arts.
Spearheaded by the Healing Arts Scotland Legacy Team, the Scottish Government, Public Health Scotland, Creative Scotland, and the Jameel Arts & Health Lab in collaboration with the World Health Organization, this week-long event will include conference days, performances, workshops, talks and evaluation and is produced in collaboration with a national coalition of organisations and communities across Scotland.
The SCO is proud to be part of this nationwide event with our dementia-friendly concert and our Big Ears, Little Ears performance, highlighting the importance of early experiences on lifelong health and wellbeing.
