We work with universities and colleges throughout the academic career. We offer opportunites for students to engage with the Orchestra through open rehearsals, side-by-side rehearsals and masterclasses. We also engage students in our projects as volunteers, giving them invaluable experience of working for a professional orchestra.

SCO is Orchestra in Residence at the University of St Andrews. The Orchestra presents an annual five-concert season at the University's Younger Hall, as well as offering a range of collaborative projects including early evening concerts, pre-concert talks, Masterclasses for students and local school pupils, and supporting the St Andrews and Fife Community Orchestra (StAFCO). SCO is also Orchestra in Association with the University of Edinburgh, working closely together on ReConnect, a programme of interactive, creative music workshops for people living with dementia.

If you would like to take part or find out more about our work, have a look at our projects or contact Atzi Muramatsu, SCO Connect Officer (Education), on 0131 478 8353.

An opportunity we're very lucky to have and the kind that makes people want to do music degrees at the University of Edinburgh
