SCO Academy, in partnership with St Mary's Music School
SCO YOUTH ACADEMY - Postponed
We are very excited about our brand new SCO Youth Academy in partnership with St Mary’s Music School and so it is with great regret that, due to Covid-19, we have taken the decision to postpone the inaugural live course in November 2020.
We now ask that you please DO NOT submit an audition video at this time. To those of you who have already begun preparing your audition material, thank you for your commitment and effort. We hope that you have had fun with the pieces (or at least developed some new skills!)
We will announce updated plans at the end of August here on the SCO website and on social media, and if you have already submitted an application we will contact you by email.
SCO STRING AND WIND ACADEMIES
SCO String and Wind Academy in Spring 2021 is scheduled as currently planned, subject to COVID-19 Scottish Government guidance updates.
Sundays 28 February - 21 March 2021, 2pm – 5pm | Edinburgh
SCO String and Wind Academies continue as a free opportunity for school-aged string and wind musicians who have achieved Grade 6 or above and who are able to commit to a series of sessions.
The String Academy is a string orchestra conducted by SCO Violinist Gordon Bragg and offers coaching to violin, viola, cello and double bass players. The Wind Academy, for smaller ensembles, is open to flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon and French horn players. The two courses will run simultaneously over a series of four Sunday afternoon sessions in the centre of Edinburgh. There are no auditions and places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
There is no fee for String and Wind Academies and travel bursaries are available.
FULL DETAILS INCLUDING HOW TO REGISTER WILL BE POSTED ON THIS PAGE ON 30 OCTOBER 2020
Despite the current movement restrictions due to COVID-19, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and St Mary’s Music School are looking to the future and these remain exciting times. Our priorities are to ensure the health and safety of our audiences, stakeholders and staff. We are monitoring the situation carefully and closely following the guidelines provided by the Scottish Government. This event will proceed only when it is assessed to be safe nearer to the event date, otherwise it may be postponed until further notice.
