Nikita Naumov began his musical education at the age of seven with Bobrovsky Pavel at Karaganda music school in Kazakhstan. In 2004 he went to study with Alexander Shilo at the St Petersburg Conservatory of Rimsky-Korsakov and graduated in 2009. He also studied with Rinat Ibragimov and Thomas Martin at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
In 2012 Nikita won the 2nd prize at the Koussevitzky double bass competition in St Petersburg. As a soloist Nikita has played with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Reykjavik Chamber Orchestra, Camerata of St Petersburg and Karaganda Symphony Orchestra (Kazakhstan).
Nikita is currently Principal Double Bass with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. He has played as a guest principal with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Amsterdam Sinfoniett and Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.
