Our 2013/14 season marks a year of celebration for our 40th Anniversary and we have opened a treasure chest of photo albums full of gems from the last four decades!
Hear the SCO players reminisce over the Orchestra's 40 year history, highlighting memorable experiences and describing what makes the SCO so special:
To celebrate our anniversary we have created a new 40th Anniversary section on our website and we want you to help us build it by sharing your own special memories and photographs of the SCO.
Nicola attended an SCO composition project whilst in her 6th year at school and shared “My composition was on the theme of Noah's Arc. I was desperate for rain sound effects and instead of being laughed at for my crazy idea I was encouraged to add a percussion section with a rain stick. That encouragement meant so much to me and gave me the confidence to go on to study music after I left school and now I work in music and arts education.”
SCO trumpeter Peter Franks said, “My most embarrassing memory with the SCO was when I hadn't seated a valve correctly, and it turned the wrong way round during the opening fanfare to the National Anthem. The result was a lot of harmony, but no tune!"
