SCO gives world premiere at 2011 EIF

After opening the 2011 Edinburgh International Festival last week (read reviews), the Orchestra is back at the Festival this Sunday (21 August) with Principal Conductor Robin Ticciati. He is joined by superstar mezzo Magdalena Kožená, the great British baritone Simon Keenlyside and the National Youth Choir of Scotland for Duruflé's haunting Requiem.

The Orchestra also gives the world premiere performance of Toshio Hosakawa's Blossoming II - an EIF commission made possible by SCO Chairman Donald MacDonald and his wife Louise - a piece which musically depicts the life-cycle of a flower.

You can get a taste of Hosakawa's music in this short clip.

There are still some tickets available, so visit the EIF website to make sure you don't miss out.
