SCO Connect are working on the St Abbs Music Project alongside The National Trust for Scotland, Sound and Music, Scottish Borders Council's Art Development Team and Youth Music Inititative. Based around the NTS site at St Abbs, the National Trust have commissioned a new piece of music by composer Howard Moody that celebrates the significance of the St Abbs Head coastal and marine nature reserves.
The project is part of ‘pARTicipate’ - a new National Trust for Scotland learning initiative which seeks to engage people with their conservation work.
The project began in May with Sound and Music creating Sonic Postcards with pupils from Coldingham Primary School and Eyemouth Primary School. Read a blog post about our trip. SCO Connect will return in the Autumn, along with Howard Moody to develop the work leading up to the commision to be heard as part of the SCO's South of Scotland Tour in 2012.
