Re-Connect

The Scottish Chamber Orchestra's Education and Outreach Department was established in 1986.  During the past twentysix years we have travelled the length and breadth of Scotland making connections with thousands of people. Whether in schools, residential homes, community centres, concert halls, fields(!), trains or prisons, members of the SCO have brought music alive and had some fabulous adventures along the way.

SCO Connect would like to rediscover stories, talk to people who have taken part in projects, and find out what's happened to that five-year-old from 1986 who's grown up and could now be enjoying music anywhere in the world!

If you have a story, photos, or memories, we'd love to hear from you. All the stories we collect will be collated and published on this website.

"When I was working with you I had the  best time in my life. I just couldn't believe it when the teacher told us we got picked to work with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra"
Toni, St Mary's Primary, a participant on the Roundabout project in October 2000

"There were so many incredible musicians there to help me with my composition that valued my musical opinion! My composition was on the theme of Noah's Ark and I remember I was desperate for rain sound effects and instead of being laughed at for my crazy idea I was encouraged to add a percussion section with a rain stick. That encouragement meant so much to me and gave me the confidence to go on to study music after I left school and now I work in music and arts education."
Nicola attended Music Factory (composition project 2003/04) in 6th year at school
