Weber Wind Concertos

The SCO’s latest recording with partners Linn Records, Weber Wind Concertos, is released on Monday 17 September. The disc features SCO Principals Maximiliano Martín (clarinet), Peter Whelan (bassoon) and Alec Frank-Gemmill (horn) as soloists and SCO Associate Artist Alexander Janiczek directs from the violin. 

Weber Wind Concertos, described by critics as “a display of self-effacing virtuoso playing that is just smile-inducing” (SA-CD.net) and "... a lively listen, guaranteed to brighten up any afternoon and put a smile on your face" (Classic FM) demonstrates the theatricality of the composer’s concertos with expert playing from the three SCO soloists. Martín and Whelan will perform Weber’s Clarinet and Bassoon concertos later this year in both Edinburgh and Glasgow.
