The Scottish Chamber Orchestra returns from its pan-European tour this week, having enjoyed huge critical and audience acclaim for its performances. The tour, encompassing Rotterdam, Toulouse, Brussels, Luxemboug, Vienna, Lucerne and Frankfurt, saw the Orchestra and SCO Principal Conductor Robin Ticciati joined by Portuguese pianist Maria João Pires.
“You couldn't believe your ears at such true expression... always serving the music and never just for show. The interpretation was entirely convincing in its honesty that old music can be so alive.” De Telegraaf
“From the opening of the Wagner, the ensemble playing in the strings was superb, with the quartet of cellos, for example, absolutely as one instrument, while Alec Frank-Gemmill's solo horn shone in Ticciati's measured and flowing treatment. That precision, applied to a bold account of Beethoven's Sixth Symphony, was nothing less than a revelation.” The Herald
“With a warm consensus between musicians and conductor, the dialogue flowed naturally, resulting in a perfect balance of sound... The Orchestra… is distinguished by a great clarity of sound and a flattering transparency which Robin Ticciati brings out with his precise, elegant direction.” Classic Toulouse
