The SCO Chorus is very sad to announce the death of Alasdair Andrews after a short illness.
Alasdair’s cheerful face was a familiar one to regular SCO audiences, as for many years he was a front-row member of the Chorus bass section. With the Chorus he took part in a huge variety of projects ranging from baroque to newly-composed works, and played a valuable additional role as Section Representative. He made an enormous contribution to Edinburgh’s choral scene generally, also being a long-standing member of the Festival Chorus.
Alasdair died on 15 November at the Marie Curie Hospice in Edinburgh, in a room overlooking his beloved Pentland Hills. There will be a Service of Thanksgiving at 12pm on Saturday 26 November at Marchmont St Giles Church, Kilgraston Road, Edinburgh, following a private cremation. Friends from both choruses will be taking part.
We send our sincere condolences to his wife Pamela and to all Alasdair’s hillwalking and mountaineering friends.
